What Does a Eating Disorder Coach Do?
A recovery coach provides practical, hands-on support for individuals in recovery from conditions like eating disorders, offering services such as ongoing text communication, sharing meals, grocery and clothes shopping, and cooking. They can assist clients either in person or virtually, and even accompany them to social events to help them navigate without engaging in harmful behaviors. The most intensive support involves live-in arrangements, where the coach stays with the client, especially during critical transitions like leaving inpatient care. Coaches complement traditional treatment by providing the day-to-day assistance that licensed professionals may not have time for or cannot ethically offer.
